The eagerly anticipated clash of the pre-season favourites for the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League Sunday Premier Division, saw reigning champions Callow End narrowly winning 3-2 against Perrywood. With the scores level at 1-1, a brilliant individual goal from James Baldwin saw the Wood take the lead, but Callow End equalised through Brad Birch before Scott Finnegan grabbed a 78th minute winner. However, Fernhill Heath Athletic lead the table on goal difference, Joe Broad hitting a hat-trick as they hammered bottom of the table St Johns 9-1. Oak Apple are in second place, Tyler Attwood and Joey Haines both bagging a brace as they won 5-3 against Northside. The Bell recorded their first points of the season, Ben Brogan cracking a hat-trick in a 5-2 home win over Arrow. Meanwhile Clifton Rovers romped to a 5-0 victory at Worcester Athletic, Josh Stafford scoring twice.
Just two points separate the top seven teams in division one. Pillar have a two point lead after a 4-1 win against Lower Teme & Martley, Andrew Dashfield, Brett Mould, Josh Bowen and Conrad Stewart on target for the salt men. A seven goal thriller at Korono saw the home team edge FC United of Worcester 4-3, Jack Pomeroy notching a double for Korono, Joe Bates doing likewise for United. Drakes Broughton Rangers had a 3-1 success at Express Falcons, Jack Dowdeswell (2) and Andrew Ward on the score sheet for Rangers, Patrick Lane grabbing a consolation goal for Falcons.
Colwall Wanderers made it four wins out of four at the top of division 2, with a 1-0 victory at Lower Teme & Martley Athletic. Worcester City Wanderers and Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers also have one hundred per cent records, but have played a game less than Colwall. Rudy Hercik bagged two for WCW in their 4-1 win at GDL Athletic, Matt Caldicott and Matt Taylor also on target. Goals from Tom Gurney and Adam Vickers gave Spa a 2-1 victory in their local derby at Riflemans Arms. Elsewhere Glen Sitch fired a treble for Blackpole Sports who beat Worcester Saints 5-2. Kempsey Colts United shared six goals with Droitwich Spa Eagles. Dean Roberts netted twice for Kempsey as did Ethan King for the Eagles.
A fourth successive win for New Dales sees them top division 3. Veteran Rik Halion scored twice as they crushed Drakes Broughton Rangers Reserves 5-1. Second placed Droitwich Spa BGFC Town thrashed Eaton Reserves 8-0, Eaton still looking for their first points of the season. Grosvenor Sports hot-shot Darren Palmer netted twice in his sides 5-2 victory at Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves, Idris Agboola, Josh Farnsworth and Ashley Palmer also on target. Strikes from Wes Joyce, Brandon Beasant and Lee King gave Brickfields a 3-0 win at Perrywood Reserves.
