WDFL ROUND UP WEEK 4

Sunday 30 September, 2018

It was WFA Sunday Premier Cup day and Perrywood got off to an emphatic start, thumping a weakened Oak Apple side 18-0.  Hot shot Kyonn Evans bagged 6! Kyle Belmonte followed closely with 5 and a brace for Garry Price, making up for the earlier surprise league defeat.  An Ash Milliard hattrick ensured cup holders Callow End went safely through following a convincing 1-4 away win against outside league opposition.  Fernhill Heath overcome hosts Clifton 2-4, which included a brace from Heaths substitute Jack Allen. It took penalties at the YMCA to separate St Johns and Arrow and it was St Johns who came out on top to progress to the next round.

Pillar lead the way in division one following a 0-3 away win against Drakes Broughton.  Harry Burchell netting a double for the visitors.  A Hat-trick for Joe Bates helped FC United of Worcester turn over a below par Eaton 6-3.  The visitors were 6 nil down before sparking into life and pacey Steve Pitt reduced the arrears with a late hat-trick. Two for James Lush ensured that Express Falcons beat the visitors from over the hill, Colwall St James, 5-2. Claines lane hosted an 8-goal feast, but it ended honours even as Korono & Lower Teme played out a 4-4 draw.  Braces for both Korono’s Joe Wood and Teme’s Gareth William-Howells.

Colwall Wanderers maintained their 100% start in division 2 with a 6-4 win that included a double for Ben Miller.  The Rifleman scoring four away from home without reward.  Worcester Saints came out narrowly on top 3-2 against Perdiswell Colts.  Elsewhere GDL Athletic, Worc City Wanderers and Blackpole Sports all won their respective games away from home 1-2.  Mark Edwards netting a brace for GDL.  Also scoring a double was Mike George Young for Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers who drew 3 each with Kempsey

Eaton Reserves poor start to the season continued as they were hammered by division 3 leaders New Dales 11 – 1.  Four goals for Jack Martin and a double for Rio Sean Janic inflicting the damage for the hosts.  Droitwich Spa Eagle were also handing out lessons as they crushed Drake Broughton Res 1-8 away from home.  Four goals for Gavin Wood and two Simon Jones amongst the highlights. A reinvigorated Powick continued their unbeaten start as they swept away hosts Lower Teme & Marley reserves 1-5.  This included a brace for the divisions leading goal scorer Leon Roberts.  Doubles for both Josh Saunders and Brandon Beasant ensured AFC Brickfields took all the points in their game with Grovesnor that finished 5-0.  Droitwich Spa BGFC Town beat Radar 1-3 and a single strike from Nathan Grogan was enough for Worcester Saints to take all three points from their encounter with Perrywood Reserves.

WORCESTER LEAGUE ROUND UP - 23 SEPTEMBER

Monday 24 September, 2018

The eagerly anticipated clash of the pre-season favourites for the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League Sunday Premier Division, saw reigning champions Callow End narrowly winning 3-2 against Perrywood. With the scores level at 1-1, a brilliant individual goal from James Baldwin saw the Wood take the lead, but Callow End equalised through Brad Birch before Scott Finnegan grabbed a 78th minute winner. However, Fernhill Heath Athletic lead the table on goal difference, Joe Broad hitting a hat-trick as they hammered bottom of the table St Johns 9-1. Oak Apple are in second place, Tyler Attwood and Joey Haines both bagging a brace as they won 5-3 against Northside. The Bell recorded their first points of the season, Ben Brogan cracking a hat-trick in a 5-2 home win over Arrow. Meanwhile Clifton Rovers romped to a 5-0 victory at Worcester Athletic, Josh Stafford scoring twice.

Just two points separate the top seven teams in division one. Pillar have a two point lead after a 4-1 win against Lower Teme & Martley, Andrew Dashfield, Brett Mould, Josh Bowen and Conrad Stewart  on target for the salt men.  A seven goal thriller at Korono saw the home team edge FC United of Worcester 4-3, Jack Pomeroy notching a double for Korono, Joe Bates doing likewise for United. Drakes Broughton Rangers had a 3-1 success at Express Falcons, Jack Dowdeswell (2) and Andrew Ward on the score sheet for Rangers, Patrick Lane grabbing a consolation goal for Falcons.

Colwall Wanderers made it four wins out of four at the top of division 2, with a 1-0 victory at Lower Teme & Martley Athletic. Worcester City Wanderers and Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers also have one hundred per cent records, but have played a game less than Colwall. Rudy Hercik bagged two for WCW in their 4-1 win at GDL Athletic, Matt Caldicott and Matt Taylor also on target. Goals from Tom Gurney and Adam Vickers gave Spa a 2-1 victory in their local derby at Riflemans Arms. Elsewhere Glen Sitch fired a treble for Blackpole Sports who beat Worcester Saints 5-2. Kempsey Colts United shared six goals with Droitwich Spa Eagles. Dean Roberts netted twice for Kempsey as did Ethan King for the Eagles.

A fourth successive win for New Dales sees them top division 3. Veteran Rik Halion scored twice as they crushed Drakes Broughton Rangers Reserves 5-1. Second placed Droitwich Spa BGFC Town thrashed Eaton Reserves 8-0, Eaton still looking for their first points of the season. Grosvenor Sports hot-shot Darren Palmer netted twice in his sides 5-2 victory at Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves, Idris Agboola, Josh Farnsworth and Ashley Palmer also on target. Strikes from Wes Joyce, Brandon Beasant and Lee King gave Brickfields a 3-0 win at Perrywood Reserves.
