WDFL ROUND UP WEEK 3

Tuesday 18 September, 2018

Division 3 saw a 13-goal thriller at Hospital Lane and it was hosts Powick that put league newcomers, and a weakened Perrywood Reserves to the sword by scoring twelve! with just one in reply.  Hotshot Leon Roberts netted a double hattrick, whilst there were goals a piece for 6 others.  Jumping across the county (dodging the Worcester run), Grosvenor were still in search of their first league points and goals this season.  This was soon put right with trebles for both Darren Palmer and Joshua Farnsworth to seal a 7-4 win.  Sam Marshall scored a brace for visitors Drakes Broughton Rangers Res.   AFC Brickfields welcomed Lower Teme & Martley Reserves and it was the visitors that went away happy 3-7, with a hattrick from Adam Waklawek and a double for Matthew Gardner.  Dan Woodward netted twice and Chris Deakin was also on the scoresheet before seeing red for the hosts.  Malvern Radar ensured struggling Eaton Reserves remained rooted to the foot of the table with a 3-0 win thanks to a double from Jon Fitzpatrick and a goal for Elliot Street.  Droitwich Spa BGFC Town rolled out 4-2 winners against Worcester Saints Reserves.  Goals from Joseph Dolphin, Callum Hanson and a brace from off the bench for Tom Daccus did the business for Spa.  A single strike from Jack Martin was enough for New Dales to maintain their 100% start at the top of div 3 with a victory over Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves.

With Callow End taking a break there was definitely going to be new prem leaders at the end of the day as Oak Apple and Fernhill Heath Athletic faced each other.  All Oak Apples goals came late with Josh Higgins levelling things up in the 92nd minute to make it 3-3 to move both teams joint top.  At the foot of the table the Bell continued their poor start to the season losing 6-1 to Clifton Rovers.  Following a shock defeat last weekend, Perrywood returned to winning ways beating Arrow comfortably 4-0.  Goals for Shaquille Tulloch, Kirk Layton and a brace from Kyle Belmonte.

The largest win in div one went to the PT Eagles who flew past host Drakes Broughton Rangers 1-5. Three from Sebastian Douglas and two from Cello Brandinad Dias ensured they finished the day on top.   Zaqib Hussain with the reply for Drakes.  Eaton entertained Colwall St James and it was a Tony Yeboah like strike from Steve Pitt that opened the scoring for Eaton and an effort from Jack Courtney made it two.  Colwall turned up the pressure in the final stages, but a deflected strike in the last ten minutes wasn’t enough for a share of the spoils.  A brace from Brad Morton and a goal from Christopher Watling ensured that travelling Express Falcons took all 3 points as they narrowly beat FC Korono 2-3.  Malvern Vale secured their first win of the campaign with a 3-4 away win at Lower Teme & Martley.  A Lewis Hill brace amongst the highlights for the visitors.  Callum Morris’s double wasn’t enough for Teme.

Colwall Wanderers maintained their 100% start to the season and lead the way in division two beating their latest victims, Perdiswell Colts 5 -2.  Ben Miller scored all 5 of the Wanderers goals and   David Michael Hadden came off the bench for colts to reduce the deficit with a double.   A stinging brace from Frederick Harrison and goals from Joe Allsopp and Craig Johnson ensured the Hornets collected all three points as they flew across the road to beat local rivals Drotwich Spa Eagles 4-2.  Kempsey Colts United are still in search of their first points after travelling GDL Athletic left with all 3 courtesy of goals from Richard Southgate and Cameron Dean.  Two strikes from Tom Tandurella ensured it was two wins from two for Worcester City Wanderers who visited Lower Teme & Martley Athletic to win 0-2.  Also with two from two were Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers who beat Worcester Saints 1-2 thanks to goals from Connor Grant and Christopher Lewis.
