WDFL ROUND UP WEEK 1

The opening games of the 2018/19 season Kicked off today and in a newly refreshing Premier Division New Comers Arrow FC beat Northside FC 2-1 goals from Sam Mogford and Carl Smith on target for Arrow. Also new to the Division Clifton Rovers were defeated 0-4 to the back to back champions Callow End, Ryan Pugh with a double, Nick Macpherson & Ciaran Sheehan also on target for the reigning champions. Fernhill Heath hit the ground running with a 4-1 win over Worcester Athletic, goals for the home team Lewis Barson, Joseph Broad, Daniel Cottrill and Tim Hitchcock. A new look Perrywood side were too strong for St Johns running out 7-1 winners, Kyonn Evans netting 4 times on debut, James Baldwin, Kyle Belmonte and James Mckee also netting. Oak Apple started life in the prem with a 0-5 win over The Bell a hattrick from Tyler attwood and goals from Joey Haines and Toby Attwood.

 

In Division 1: Drakes Broughton returned to Division 1 this season and were defeated 2-3 to FC United of Worcester. A double for the home team by Bill Hemming. Express Falcons began with a comfortable 3-1 win over Lower Teme and Martley. Matthew Bannister on the score sheet & Brad Morton with a brace for the Falcons. FC Malvern began life in Division 1 with a local derby and running out comfortable winners 4-1 against Malvern Vale, Lewis Doyle scoring a brace, Aaron Smith & Ryan Shemwell also on target. PT Eagles lost their opening home game 1-2 to highly rated FC Korono. Alex Raven-Gill on target for the Eagles. Masons won comfortably 4-1 against Eaton, Goals for the home side coming from Harry Burchell, Sam Saunders and a Brace from Tyler Peters sealing the Home win. While Daniel Smith scored a consolation goal for Eaton.

 

In Division 2: Blackpool Sports began their home campaign against Hornets avoiding a sting in the tail running away 3-0 winners. Goals galore at Colwall Wanderers as they narrowly beat Worcester Saints 5-3 A Brace for Nathan Ince helping wanderers to a home win. Riflemans were on target beating Droitwich Spa Eagles 0-3. Kempsey Colts lost their opening fixture of the season 2-4 to Worcester City Wanderers. A double from Tom Tandurella, Matthew Taylor and Tom Roberts also on the score sheet for Wanderers. In the final game of the opening games in the Division Lower Teme & Martley Athletic defeated Perdiswell Colts 3-1 goals for the home side Andy Jones and a double from Chris Wickham. Owen Hickey netted the Colts first goal of the season.

 

In Division 3: AFC Brickfields opened up their home campaign welcoming Worcester Saints Reserves, saints running away with all 3 points with a 0-2 win. Eaton Reserves found it hard to cope with New Dales as Dales ran out 1-4 winners, goal for the home side from David Molloy. In a tight match Grosvenor Sports entertained newly formed Droitwich Spa BGFC Town with Spa just running away with all 3 points winning 0-1. Powick FC first home game saw them take on the youthful Malvern Radar FC and neither team could be separated as the game ended a 0-0 draw. Lower Teme & Martley Reserves entertained Perrywood Reserves the two sides couldn’t be separated at the final whistle and 2-2 draw was a fair result.
