WORCESTER LEAGUE ROUND UP - 7 JANUARY

A nine goal thriller at Malvern Radar Youth saw Grosvenor Sports snatch an 88th minute winner to triumph 5-4 in Division 4 of the McDonald’s Worcester & District Football League. Dan Mimnagh cracked a treble and Josh Farnsworth a double for Grosvenor, with Kieran Smith (2), Shane Abel and Ryan Scullion replying for Radar. Meanwhile leaders Spa Rovers maintained a six point gap between themselves and Grosvenor with Jack Weatherby notching both goals in their 2-0 win against Droitwich Spa Eagles Reserves. Sebright Arms remain in third place on goal difference after a crushing 6-0 victory at New Inn Sports (Malvern). Glenn Sitch and Shane Shallcross both bagged a brace with Dan Glisson and Mike Jeffries also on target. Worcester Saints kept up their promotion challenge, Dylan Hart hitting a hat-trick as they thumped Eaton Reserves 5-1. Drakes Broughton Rangers Reserves drew 3-3 with Lower Teme & Martley Reserves, Joe Barrett (2) and Bill Hemming on the score sheet for Rangers, Lower Teme’s goals coming from Alex Thain, Oliver Geach and Callum Morris. 

In the only match played in the Premier division, The Gloster Arms beat Northside 3-1 with strikes from Sam Daffin, Aaron Richards and Harry Wickett. 

Worcester Athletic beat Claines 2-1 in division one, Liam Edwards and Adam Whitehead their scorers. 

A solitary goal from Ahmed Naser gave Colwall St James victory over Hornets in division 2. 

Division 3 leaders Express Falcons hammered Freemasons Arms 5-1, Josh Beckett netting twice with Chris Bridges Nathan Henton and Chris Watling also on the score sheet. Powick recorded their first league win of the season, 3-1 over Brewers Saints, with goals from Kieran Smith, Carl Davies and Leighton Bridgewater. 

Callow End and Clifton Rovers are both through to the semi-finals of the Worcester Nursing Sunday Junior Cup. Hotshot Nick Macpherson scored twice for Callow End who beat Hawthorns from the Bromsgrove League 3-2. Clifton won 3-1 at New Inn Athletic, Will Griffiths, David Nunn and Rich Taylor their scorers. 

However, Eaton, Korono and Droitwich Spa Eagles all crashed out of the Minor Cup quarter-finals.
